Now for today’s fight fallacy in boxing: “The Tale Of The Tape”.
There are few tangible advantages in boxing and interestingly enough, all the ones listed in the “tale of the tape” are insignificant, arcane and frivolous “advantages”. Reach(no), height (no), weight(only when weight translates into power), fist (no), biceps(no), waist (Buster Mathis and Tyson Fury beat a helluva lot of svelte fighters)NO! Age (the older fighter doesn’t always lose to the younger fighter) means nothing. Of course it couldn’t be called “The Tale of the Tape” anymore, but it should be replaced by the actual attributes that obviously benefit a fighter.
Resilience, Endurance, Experience, Agility, Dexterity…et cetera. This will lead to a deeper understanding of the sport that sorely needs to get current.
