SAN FRANCISCO, CA– Having been knocked out by huge underdog Flip Hrgovic, Britain’s heavyweight “pretender” Moses Itauma is DONE and there is nothing the British Media, his fan base and or promoter Frank Warren can do about it! Oh, and before you try and compare a possible Moses resurrection to Joe Louis getting knocked out by Max Schmeling, before knocking the German out in a rematch, let me say that from a technical perspective, Moses has the ring savvy of a 12-year old runner-up in the Junior Olympics.
TIRED IN 4 ROUNDS, “LEARN TO HOLD” FROM DEVIN HANEY?
Every fighter can look like a champ when they are “Fresh & Un-Pounded On.” It’s when you get tired and there is incoming fire that you must either man up and punch back or roll over and lose! And for the first 4 rounds, Moses was an offensive machine fighting out of a southpaw (left handed) stance. The 21-year-old Brit landed some hellacious shots on the Flipper that were either “Not as good as they looked“ OR “Flip has a chin unlike anybody else in boxing today.” Maybe even a combination of both!
NO “DESIGNATED HITTER” ROLE IN BOXING
In the world of Major League Baseball, guys that “Can’t Catch“ are given the role of Designated Hitter. The 2026 “Home Run Hitter That Can’t Catch“ is the United Kingdom’s Moses Itauma who had shined in slaughtering 14 chosen lambs with the best being “C rated” Jermaine “Vacationed in England” Franklin. So for the most part sans any exaggeration, everybody Moses had fought prior to Saturday were pugilistic roadkill material at best and a good example of how promoter Frank Warren is “masterful” in matching and building a fighter from the ground up.
SEEN LOTS OF ENDINGS……WHAT IN THE HELL WAS THAT?
Turning the tables on Moses after he all but took off Flip’s head in round 7, Hrgovic (21-1, 16 KOS) realized in round 8 that the time he and his team were waiting for, “Moses being gassed” was now! Starting round 9 gasping for air like an Asthmatic, Moses and his team realized the end was near as Itauma was a completely beaten man “looking for a way out“ when he just collapsed from both Physical & Mental Exhaustion. The “towel of surrender” thrown in by Ben Davidson, the oft-criticized trainer of Itauma took place as Moses was floundering about the ring. Later Hrgoviv’s ace Trainer Abel Sanchez said there was “No final punch. Moses just collapsed.”
PROMOTER WARREN WAS “VISIBLY SHAKEN”
Having known and worked with Frank Warren long before Mike Tyson “beat the shit” out of him surrounding the Tyson-Julius Francis fight in Manchester, UK in January 2000, I don’t ever recall him looking as “Bothered & Hurt“ as I did at the Saturday post-fight press gathering. IT turns out NOBODY was surprised/shocked or stunned at Moses Itauma being removed from the ring on a stretcher than his promoter Frank Warren!
