LOS ANGELES, CA – (May 9, 2025) – For the first time ever, Alanis Morissette‘s introspective and influential multi-platinum and award-winning album, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, is getting the audiophile treatment courtesy of Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MoFi). A leader in high-fidelity audio reissues, MoFi is now taking orders for their meticulously remastered 180g 33RPM 2LP (HERE) and Hybrid SACD (HERE) limited editions of her 1998 follow-up to the record-breaking Jagged Little Pill.
Sourced from the original master tapes, both the strictly limited (3,000 numbered copies each) Mobile Fidelity editions of Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie aim to deliver unparalleled sound. The 180g 33RPM 2LP (1/2″ / 30 IPS analog master to DSD 256 to analog console to lathe) vinyl set is housed in a Stoughton jacket and pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing, promising defined grooves that enhance detail, clarity, focus, and dynamics, befitting the album’s nearly 72-minute length. The Hybrid SACD comes in mini-LP-style packaging, offering enhanced coherence and clarity with richer detail, sharper focus, and broader dynamics, particularly benefiting Morissette’s textured soundscapes, nuanced vocals, David Campbell’s string arrangements, and Glen Ballard’s synth work.
Alanis Morissette refuses to adhere to convention on Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. Staying true to her maverick spirit, Alanis Morissette defied convention with Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, her follow-up to the breakthrough Jagged Little Pill. Drawing inspiration from travels in India, this smash success set a debut sales record for a female artist and remains a pop-rock staple, showcased her evolution into a vital generational voice. Notable for its balance, sophistication, and richness, the album captured Morissette navigating post-fame life with a sense of spiritual awakening, gratitude, and introspection, reflected in its mellow, contoured, and Eastern-tinged melodies. Initially perhaps ahead of its time with its themes of serenity and contentment, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie has gained appreciation over time, serving as a visionary beacon for maintaining well-being in a distracting modern world, daring to ask profound questions and offer paths towards enlightenment, healing, and joy, ensuring its timeless relevance. For these reasons alone, it’s a record that never goes out of style.
